Introducing Php

PHP Programming For Beginners

Maybe you are certainly familiar with the word PHP(Hypertext Preprocessor), but you don’t know how powerful programming language is. Many features this can offer you, Nowadays PHP has the advantage of being the only open-source server-side scripting language that is easy to learn as long as you wanted to. This is not just for advertising: based on the recent surveys on the web, it shows that more than 17,000,000 websites used PHP as their server-side scripting language and only this language has the most popular apache modules..

My aim in this article is quiet simple: I will introduce you the basic PHP Programming, and prove you why for me this is the best tool for developing a Web Application on this generation. I’ll not test your level of skills or knowledge what important is that, you understand the basic HTML and have a little bit passion of yourself.

Now shall we start?

The Right Overview
PHP is typically used in combination with a Web server like Apache it can also be in IIS. Requests for PHP scripts are received by the Web server, and are handled by its PHP interpreter. The results obtained after execution are returned back to Web server, which is responsible to transmit back to the client browser. In the PHP script itself, you can make what you want. Example: you want to process user input, massive calculations, write and read files, or you interact with a database.

From the above explanation, I think you are ready to begin using PHP Programming ,you must have proper development environment setup.

This tutorial is focus on using WAMP(Windows,Apache,MySql,PHP)server to make it easy for you. Download first WAMP installer. If you are not confident installing it, you can find installation guide here http://www.eacomm.com/support/manuals/wamp_install/index.html

Installed Finish and Ready to start :

There’s only one essential concept that you need to get into your mind around before we proceed further. Unlike CGI scripts, which require you to write code to output HTML, PHP lets you embed PHP code in regular HTML pages, and execute the embedded PHP code when the page is requested.

These embedded PHP commands are enclosed within special start and end tags, like this:

 < ?php ...Your PHP code here... ?>

Open your favorite Text Editor: Like Notepad++ Editor, Crimson Editor or Adobe Dreamweaver.
Here is the example to combine your HTML and PHP for the first time:

<html>

<head>

</head>

<body>

Hello World, lucky to start learning PHP here <br />

< ?php /*This is your first PHP Code*/

 echo "Practiced me and I will show you how powerful I am.";

?>

</body>

</html>

Save the above script to a location under your wamp installation directory under WWW folder and save it on .php file extension. “Like beginner.php”

Now open your favorite browser and be sure that your wampserver was already started. Type this on your address bar
http://localhost/beginner.php –beginner.php is your filename or whatever your filename is

See the result? the output will be like this:

Hello World, lucky to start learning PHP here
Practiced me and I will show you how powerful I am.

Now you have learned a little bit on php. :)
